The concert went extremely well and there was a great relaxed atmosphere of fun and enjoyment followed by a great post Concert buffet.
The Find Your Voice Singers were very well received by all on and off stage and the K Shoes shoe box surprise was much appreciated by the Rinteln choir!
We certainly look forward to singing with the VCR (Rinteln Male Voice Choir) in the future!!

They're nearly here!! The VCR, Rinteln Male Voice Choir arrive this afternoon and its off to The Globe this evening for traditional Fish and Chips,as requested by our very welcome visitors. Tickets are still available through members, Trybooking or at the door and it is going to be a great concert starring the VCR, K Shoes MVC and not least, if fact to many of us, the most impressive, the Find Your Voice Singers!!
Eight men who are not in choirs but wanted to see if they can sing, and if they can, would they like it?
Six weeks of one hour lessons provided by the choir from local professional singing teacher Tracie Penwarden combined with the stickability and commitment of the octet culminate in their one performance as a singing group!
The applause from K Shoes MVC at their one rehearsal with the choir on Wednesday last was genuine and warm and our members were very agreeably surprised at the sound produced.
You can hear them too, just come along and enjoy an excellent and wide ranging evening of song. It's very much a one off and you should be there!!

It was a great night last night at St Thomas' Church with the Houghton Weavers!! Everyone had a really enjoyable time, on stage and off stage! We introduced a folk singing supporters audience to Male Voice Choral Singing and we loved their positive and warm response.
Too many people to thank but particularly Ian and Andy, Richard, our cat herder and the ladies who supported us by ticket desk and refreshments, they, too were amazing and worked as fantastically effective teams, really enhancing the enjoyment of the audience and members.

Many thanks to Steve of the Houghton Weavers for the following quote of the night "what a great venue and show, love KSMVC!"
We thought you were all pretty great too, Steve, in my case I particularly loved the excellent playing of what Mike Harding used to call the "mouth truss" in the Bob Dylan tribute!!!
Lots of snaps, have a good scroll!!

A really enjoyable and totally relaxed Wedding and guess who is the same height as the Groom and standing exactly behind him on the photo? Our own Stevie Wonder, of course!!
And can you stop a landlord serving pints on his Wedding Day? Not a chance!
Thanks for letting us be part of the Big Day, from the Wedding Bus onwards it was extremely enjoyable for all present and the Bride looked fantastic! Best wishes to Lynne and David.

Friday 2nd June 2017 sees the Wedding of Lynne and David, a genuine relative of William Shakespeare and Landlord of The Shakespeare Inn, Kendal.
We are honoured and delighted to be invited to join them in celebrating their nuptials.
Many thanks David and Lynne, we hope the weather at Grayrigg is the best that the South Lakes can offer! You know that we are renowned for four seasons in one day so we hope the right season coincides with your service!
We look forward to seeing you there and singing your favourite hymns.

The Wedding of Rachel and Nathan was a very enjoyable event.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback and comments, Rachel, it does mean a lot to us. You gave us an opportunity to sing to an audience we would not otherwise have reached and it is much appreciated.
We send you and Nathan every best wish for your future.

We were a bit far away in the video so I've fitted appropriately different visuals!!
We do sing this piece it a lot better nowadays! This was our first public airing for The Book Of Love.
This link only seems to work if you stand up, turn around three times, hold down Ctrl and give it a click, it then opens up another tab which is where the video reposes.....quite exhausting really but go on, give it a click!!...OK, I admit it, the stand up bit was a :-) in preparation for tomorrow morning, 1st April.

An excellent time was had by all this afternoon at the Mary Wakefield Festival, both the singing and the listening to the other choirs were so enjoyable!! I felt, as I would, that we acquitted ourselves very well and the audience seemed to agree.
Congratulations to Arnside Choral Society, the Eversley Choir and the Lacuna Upper Voice Choir, what fantastically good sounds!
This level of enjoyment is what being in a choir is about..........and well done Ian for leading two choirs in one afternoon and to Tracie for her hard work in helping both choirs!

Tomorrow we look forward to singing at the Mary Wakefield Festival. As well as the words and music we have been rehearsing how to process onto and off the stage in a dignified manner.....
I thought the following might be an appropriate mantra for us all, in the immortal words of the original rocker we should all:
"Walk tall, walk straight and look the world right in the eye
That's what my mama told me when I was about knee high
She said, son, be a proud man and hold your head up high
Walk tall, walk straight and look the world right in the eye"....

The AGM went well and as always a high spot was the presentation of 100% attendance medals, in this case to the two 2016 qualifying members, John Warner and Jim Fielding, by our President, Mary Powney. Their performance was exceptional with 100% for rehearsals, concerts and other events, e.g. workshops. Well done John and Jim!!

Although it was an enjoyable event it was an evening for our, in the immortal words of Joey from Friends, "gracious loser" faces.....
Along with 80% of the finalists we were runners up. Levens Choir are the 2017 Cumbria Life Choir of the Year and we applaud them, as well as all the other finalists.
To lighten the mood and remind us of why we do what we do in the way we do it, here is a short video clip by SZLZ in Germany showing what International fun you can derive from Male Voice Choral singing.
We do not plan to introduce this gesture of respect for the Conductor in the near future....

Other highlights included Ned's Chorley or Swindle raffle of a limited edition bottle of 10 year old malt whisky won by John Basnett and Pam and Jim winning a bottle of wine with top marks in the Famous Scots Quiz. Jamie's great achievement in putting on a real bow tie was applauded and was a lot more than most of us managed......
We look forward to our next meeting which is probably going to be a little bit more strenuous involving a Lakeland walk and ending, so predictably, in a friendly hostelry for topping up our fluid levels!
Photos are:Our Treasurer practicing on the bar staff, everybody, the toast to the haggis, Janis despatching the haggis and Jamie showing off his bow tie tying abilities!
