Thank you Richard, Rosemary and the many people, members and wives/partners, to whom we all owe sincere thanks for making our July Garden Party the amazingly enjoyable event that it was!
A wonderful view, overlooking Lake Windermere, with lovely weather, excellent food and drink and good company. We couldn't have asked for more.

A friend from America accompanied me to last night's concert for Help For Heroes in Preston Minster (a great venue acoustically and in terms of space), in which the Blackburn and Darwen Band and ourselves, although performing extremely well, were completely outclassed by the excellently behaved and vocally fantastic young members of the Lostock Hall Community Choir.
Particular favourites which in his view played to our choir's strengths were Bring Him Home in which he felt the tenors were outstanding and The Water Is Wide, where the choir's enjoyment particularly shows through. In addition he felt the content overall was very well balanced.
All the Band's content was very enjoyable and the children's harmonies were of a really high standard.
Thanks to everyone involved, we all loved it and the audience seemed to as well!!

Many thanks to Tracie Penwarden, Ian, Andy and all the choir members who gave up their weekend time to attend our workshop today at Stricklandgate Methodist Church and also to the staff of the Shakespeare Inn, Kendal, who provided such an excellent post workshop buffet!!
At the end of the session there was an obvious and very vocal statement by the choir that we should repeat the exercise at intervals to be agreed, which was a great indicator of how happy the attendees were.
We all learned a lot, admittedly some of it was what Ian has been telling us for some time, but now we have had that advice in stereo we should make twice as sure that we take notice of it, together with Tracie's other advice!
We very much appreciated the added benefits of a qualified third party helping us to constantly improve and can't thank you enough, Tracie.
The Chairman's award for the longest droning noise was won by the Chairman, who unfortunately also won the prize for the most embarassing raspberry like version of what I believe is called in singing circles the "lip trill".
No images unfortunately, due to fortunately rare technical issues....

Our third concert in 2016 was as enjoyable as the first two, which was a high standard to meet! An excellent night and the audience were extremely generous in their applause and contributions to Cancer Research. Thank you everyone who helped in any way and Beverley MVC, MD and Chairman and members who were great company and excellent singers of standard and some peculiarly ethnic songs, "A Yorkshire Mix" being a fine example!
The evening ended well with a great buffet provided by our amazing Support Group led by Rosemary Irvin.
Not only that! The new staging worked brilliantly due to the great efforts of Harry Upton and Graham Dalzell!
Onwards and upwards........in the case of the new staging, literally!

On Saturday 21st May at 7-30 pm we will be singing in St Thomas' Church, Kendal with Beverley Male Voice Choir for Cancer Research, as arranged by our tireless and highly valued member Jim Plenderleith!
If you can make it please come along, the songs to be sung include some you will not have heard us sing before and some old favourites, approximately the following programme, I say approximately as sometimes things change, as they do!
In my view it will be worth the price of a ticket just to listen to us sung "The Water Is Wide" but I am a tad biased and base this on the way it makes me feel when we rehearse that piece!

On Thursday 5th May some members who were in the choir for many years with Jack Pratt, who was an excellent tenor, made our way to Grange Over Sands to wish him a very Happy 100th Birthday.
We led the singing of Happy Birthday to You and For He's A Jolly Good Fellow, taking him some cards, a book of photographs of his time in the choir and our sincere best wishes. Jack is an amazing example of a very healthy ex-chorister, a living advert for the emotional and physical benefits of membership....although genes may have a bit to do with it as well!
Many thanks to Jack's family and friends and the staff of Cartmel Grange Nursing Home for making us so welcome..The first photo shows Jack and his contemporaries, from the left, founder member Derek Halliwell,Brian Winter, Jack, Jim Fielding, Jim Plenderleith and our Secretary Geoff Irvin. The others are from our archives and all include Jack.
It is hard to realise that he was 53 years old when the choir was formed!
